Now that I am "semi-retired," (work full time in fall semester, completely off in spring), I'll have a bit more time to spread the gospel of the importance of high quality large-class teaching. I'd be interested in providing consultant services, or demonstration presentations to institutions interested in upgrading their large lectures. My services would be particularly appropriate for institutions large enough to have large lectures, but not large enough to have a full-service instructional development program. I can provide a demonstration lecture called "The Teacher as Actor." I can also help set up courses or workshops for teaching assistants who want to become professional teachers, or mentoring programs for large class faculty. I can review existing programs, or help new ones get off the ground. I can help administrators walk the tightrope between evaluation of faculty, and improvement of teaching.
